So every year for Make Me A Gamer we do a podcast with our Game of the Year content, and every year I also do a write-up of my games of the year as a companion piece. This year we went over my top 5 of the year in the podcast itself, and here I’m gonna expand to my top 10 along with a few honorable mentions.
Nothing else to say, just good ol’ year-end summary of games content coming. Here we go!
We’ve made it to the end of 2020, and considering all that’s happened this year that’s quite the accomplishment! Now it’s time to sit back, relax, and enjoy some lists with this year’s Manatees!!
This year we have some brand spankin’ new categories like Nicest Smelling Game and Best Game Bug, HarveyZ takes us on a trip through his top 5 games he wished he played this year, and then TMan shares his top 5 games he actually played before both our hosts share their beloved Game of the Year. Enjoy this riveting end of the year discussion!
So if you haven’t listened yet, last week myself and my partner in crime HarveyZ recorded our Game of the Year podcast where I handed out my Manatees for 2019. In that I outlined my top 5 games of the year and talked a little bit about each. Like last year, I also wanted to put up a companion blog post to add some written words about why I enjoyed each game and also flesh out the games to a full top 10 and a few Honorable Mentions.
Most of these are going to be games I’ve talked about already this year, but a few are games that I always meant to talk about but slipped through the cracks (at least on the writing and podcast side). I hope you enjoy this last blog post of 2019 and I’ll see you in the new year with all sorts of new games, posts, and ideas!
2019 is ending, and HarveyZ has actually played more than one video game released this year! It’s a cause for celebration and list ordering! It’s time for the 2019 MANATEES!!
This episode we dive into TMan and HarveyZ’s Games of the Year. We also talk about HarveyZ’s runner-up and the other four games that make up TMan’s top 5. What are they? Listen to this episode, the last episode of Make Me A Gamer in 2019, and find out!
As always, thank you so much for listening and please leave us ratings and feedback however you’re listening to our podcast! Happy holidays and a happy new year! May 2020 bring you joy, happiness, and plenty more video games!
Last Friday on a bonus episode of the Make Me A Gamer Podcast, I doled out the first-ever Manatees (T-Man, manatee, get it?) to some of the games I really enjoyed this year. But I also wanted to write up a companion article to expand a little bit on all the games I talked about and a few I didn’t get to on the podcast.
In the podcast I go over a lot of the technical and mechanical details as to why I enjoyed the game, but in this piece I wanted to go a little more into the feelings and emotional side of the games. I’ve gotten into a habit of writing about and reviewing games from a detached, matter-of-fact standpoint instead of really exploring how games make me feel. Sometimes a game just has that je ne sais quoi and grabs you from the beginning and never lets go.
So here are TMan’s 2018 Manatees in article format. Hope you enjoy, and happy new year!
What’s this? Two episodes of Make Me A Gamer in one week? It must be a Christmas miracle! TMan and HarveyZ got together to record a shorter, bonus episode (although it didn’t end up nearly as short as intended) to talk about their favorite games from 2018. HarveyZ talks about the one game he played that was released in 2018, and then TMan gives out the first ever Manatee awards for his games of the year! We hope you enjoy, and we’ll see you all in the new year! (This episode was recorded December 18th, 2018.)
